The Leicester Stand Up Challenge returned in 2017 to help demonstrate that Leicester & Leicestershire are fun places to do business! Held during the Leicester Business Festival at The Y theatre in Leicester city centre the Stand Up Challenge saw local business people take to the stage and perform their first ever 5 minutes of original stand-up comedy, all in aid of charity.
All proceeds supported local charity Big Difference Company (registered charity 1135167), which runs the annual Leicester Comedy Festival each February and aims to improve the health & wellbeing of communities across the UK. Recent projects have included engaging with people living with arthritis to encourage them to live healthy lives and exercise, as well as projects working with older people and children & young people.
Leicester Comedy Festival is the longest running comedy festival in Europe and has an annual economic impact to Leicester & Leicestershire of £3million every year. The main February festival offers exciting ways for local businesses to associate themselves with “one of the leading brands in the UK public arts” (The Times) and the Stand Up Challenge has rapidly become a key date in the annual business calendar. The Leicester Stand Up Challenge is supported by Leicester Castle Business School at De Montfort University, in association with Leicester Mercury.
